Not all bobbins are the same!

Contrary to what some people believe, not all bobbins were created equal. At first glance they may look the same, but in actual fact different brand bobbins differ in diameter, height, depth and shape.

A bobbin that is too small in diameter will cause the thread to tangle in the bobbin case while sewing. A bobbin that is slightly too tall will certainly jam. Some sewing machines will tolerate a slightly different bobbin better than others, but using the incorrect bobbin will most likely affect the stitch quality of your project, and could result in damage to your machine.
